Was 7z meant as a transport encryption, something totally on the file? Should people be prevented from extracting old family photos from their 10 years old laptop because of hardware failure? Should we force everyone to painfully realize that every file should have 4 backups, stored on different places, when hard drives and OSes doesn't do this by default?
Should we trust all our information into the cloud and wait if the company running it shuts down or closes our accounts when we run out of money, or when perhaos there is no more oil to provide power? Or should we intruduce backup practice and theory in schools?
All in all, I cannot see why this couldn't be added to the features list at least in the case when the last file is undamaged and not missing. This wouldn't need redesign of the format. Oh no!
